DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

The Pavement Management System is introduced to Thailand Department of Highways since 1984, which is known as “Thailand Pavement Management System'' or TPMS. TPMS performs periodic condition survey to identify the pavement condition. The inspection is performed and the collected data is stored in the database for further analysis. TPMS results are currently represented through text and tabular format which may not provide an effective representation to the decision makers on the maintenance activities. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) application is applied to address this problem. Maintenance activities can be determined for each routes/subsections that are justified for pavement MR&R activities. The results can be used to manage the limited budget for pavement maintenance in the most efficient and economical manner.
