DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) is implementing the MRT Orange Line (East) Project. The Orange Line (East0 will connect the existing Blue Line Thailand Cultural Centre station to Suwinthawong district in east Bangkok.

 

Contract E3 involves the design and construction of approximately 4 km long twin bore tunnels from Lam Sali intersection to Khlong Ban Ma with three underground stations, three ventilation shafts and a cut and cover tunnels as a transition structure to connect our underground section to the elevated section of Contract E4.

 

The MRTA has awarded Contract E3 to Italian-Thai Development PCL (ITD) and, ITD has engaged Ove Arup and Partners International Limited (Arup) as the Designer for Contract E3. Arup has engaged International Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd. (IEC) as the Sub-Designer to design Khlong Bridge Underpinning.

 

SCOPE OF SERVICES:

  • Design of Temporary Works & Secondary Structures
    • Temporary support for top-down and bottom up construction
    • Building/Structure Protection and Underpinning (including existing viaduct, footbridge and Khlong and pile extraction
    • Temporary road deck system and supports
    • Design secondary permanent structures including non-loading bearing wall (block work and RC. wall)
  • Working Drawing for Architectural & Civil Works
    • ABWF including typical and specific details for finishes fixture and furniture
    • General details and section
    • Reinforcement drawings including bar bending schedules

 

KEY FACTORS:

  • Design of building/structure protection and underpinning including existing viaduct, footbridge and Khlong and pile extraction but excluding ground improvement.
